Angela Quiblier and Hugo Foizel
Obora is the estate founded in 2021 in Chénas by Angela Quiblier and Hugo Foizel, two winemakers who met while studying in Dijon. Before establishing their own domaine, they gained experience at several respected wineries, then spent three years managing Domaine des Jeunes Pousses, a project designed to help young winemakers establish themselves. Today, Obora farms around 6 hectares, primarily planted with Gamay in the Chénas and Juliénas crus, along with some Chardonnay and Viognier. Five hectares are certified organic, with biodynamic practices including herbal preparations and soils worked by tractor, winch, or horse. In the cellar, Angela and Hugo favour whole clusters, gentle extraction, and a low-intervention approach to winemaking.
